GO Team Report – July 2017

The GO Team’s Mission and Purpose is to assist every TBA church to become an Acts 1:8 church; that is to effectively engage the Unreached in our Jerusalem (our neighborhoods), our Judea (our region and state), our Samaria, (our country), and the remotest parts of the world (places where the Name of Jesus has never been heard).

Brother Mike, our DOM, and I spent two days with Pastor Cliff Jenkins, Church Planting Catalyst of Metro-Pittsburg of the North American Mission Board in June. We were blessed to spend time with a half dozen church planters in the Pittsburg area. These men have planted themselves and their families in communities around Pittsburg. They are committed to the Lord Jesus and His call on their lives. However, the work is hard and progress is slow. These Planters and the newly formed churches need partners to come along side them to take advantage of the open doors the Lord has set before them. Their greatest need is prayer warriors and laborers to provide some hands and feet to assist them with some practical ministries. This is a great opportunity for some TBA churches to adopt a church planter and his community in Pittsburg. Your church can provide Kingdom building resources and be blessed beyond measure. For more information and assistance contact Brother Mike or Alan.

Another need in the Pittsburgh area is more Church planters. There are so many towns in the area without an evangelical church. Some of these areas present unique opportunities with abundant resources but just need God’s man and his family to plant themselves in the community. Again for more information on these opportunities contact Mike or Alan.

We have three college age students who are spending the summer in Hamilton, Montana as interns with The River Church (formerly First Baptist Church). They are serving with Allen and Kristine James, our partners in Montana, through August 12. Please pray for these three who have obeyed the Father’s call for this summer. They are Abby Ammons, Noah Trent and Callie Plemmons.

We assisted two pre-med students, Coleman Woody and Nathan Pierron, in a two week medical mission to Thailand in June. They served with IMB medical missionary, Doug Derbyshire, on mobile medical clinics and at the Baptist Clinic in Thailand. These two weeks helped Coleman and Nathan continue to discern God’s plan for their lives.

A team just returned from a trekking/prayer walking mission to a Communist country in East Asia. We experienced a deeper level of darkness and lostness. There will be opportunities in the future to return with us and further push back this darkness though prayer and the Presence of Christ in us. Again for more info on this trip and future ones to this East Asian country contact Alan.

TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED FOR SOUTHEAST ASIA CONVERSATIONAL EV TRIP  – OCTOBER 30-NOVEMBER 13  – COST: $2500. This will be a great opportunity to engage seeking Muslins with the Gospel in a non-threatening way.

If your church needs assistance in planning or participating in a mission partnership the GO Team will be glad to assist in any way possible. Contact TBA office or alan@brevardcommunity.org.

There are still over 6000 Unreached People Groups in our world. 2017 would be a great time for your church to adopt one of these Groups. It doesn’t matter what size your church is, we can assist you with a simple strategy and plan to get the Gospel to a Group of folks who have never heard the Good News of Jesus.

Contact Alan at alan@brevardcommunity.org  or the TBA office for assistance or information concerning any of these opportunities. Other GO Team members who are ready to assist are: Brooks and Brenda Harrell, Robert and Linda Snowdon, Shannon Compton, Bryan Murdock, Sonny and Lucy Bracken, Shane Duncan, Dave Nimer and Chris Schlender.
