Adopt a People Group

 Adopt A PEOPLE GROUP

What is a people group? It is a group of people who have the same language, culture, history, customs and family/clan identities. For strategic purposes, a people group is the largest group through which the gospel can flow without encountering significant barriers of understanding and acceptance.

Your church can have a key role
in bringing an unreached people group to Christ. Adopting a people group helps churches take an active and direct role in missions.

7 steps to adopt a people group    print document

1. Pray for God’s guidance
2. Discover your church’s natural affinity (DNA)
3. Determine the church’s expectations for adoption
4. Work with church leaders and identify a mission “champion”
5. Investigate opportunities
6. When God directs you to a specific unreached people group, pray and celebrate God’s direction.
7. Communicate, follow through and keep your commitments

GO Team Report – January 2017

The GO Team’s Mission and Purpose is to assist every TBA church to become an Acts 1:8 church; that is to effectively engage the Unreached in our Jerusalem (our neighborhoods), our Judea (our region and state), our Samaria, (our country), and the remotest parts of the world (places where the Name of Jesus has never been heard).

Looking back at 2016, we celebrate the involvement of our churches in all of these areas.

For example (and this is not an all inclusive list):

  1. The ministry of Light and Hope continues to grow as God continues to raise up partners and use different avenues to live out and proclaim the Gospel in this local community.
  2. Over 100 volunteers from 6 TBA churches went to Williamsburg, Kentucky in December to give needed gifts and supplies to a community of folks who have fallen on hard times. We listened to them and seeing them through eyes of compassion shared the Good News of the Gospel with them. Some received the greatest Gift of all; Jesus! Some wanted to think about it. A follow-up trip is being planned sometime in the spring.
  3. We had 4 college-age interns spend the summer in Montana working with TBA partner Allen James.
  4. In the remotest parts of the world, TBA churches continued partnerships all the way from Indonesia to Mexico to  Vietnam to Haiti to Cambodia to India and several countries in between!

Looking ahead to 2017 at the opportunities for any of TBA churches to be involved with:

  1. Light and Hope, Brevard. Always in need of helping hands and prayer walkers. Contact Brooks and Brenda Harrell.
  2. Williamsburg, Kentucky. Follow-up to December trip sometime this spring. Dates to be determined.
  3. College age interns to serve the summer of 2017.  Mid June – Mid August.
  4. VBS-Backyard Bible Clubs the summer of 2017. Dates to be determined.
  5. Southeast Asia. March 15-29. Engaging Unreached People Groups which have been adopted by TBA churches.
  6. East Asia. June 15-29. New partnership. Opening up new area in a communist country through prayer walking and seeking persons of peace.
  7. Unreached People Groups. There are still over 6000 Unreached People Groups in our world. 2017 would be a great time for your church to adopt one of these Groups. It doesn’t matter what size your church is, we can assist you with a simple strategy and plan to get the Gospel to a Group of folks who have never heard the Good News of Jesus.

Contact Alan at alan@brevardcommunity.org  or the TBA office for assistance or information concerning any of these opportunities. Other GO Team members who are ready to assist are: Brooks and Brenda Harrell, Robert and Linda Snowdon, Shannon Compton, Bryan Murdock, Sonny and Lucy Bracken, Shane Duncan, Dave Nimer and Chris Schlender.

May 2017 Be Our Most Fruitful Year Ever,
